Y3 PROJECT

Welcome to the Y3 Project page.  Here you will find guidelines to the module in addition to lecture notes, important deadlines and other resources that may be of interest.  We will be meeting weekly for a tutorial to help you with your research, you careers and your scientific writing.  The Y3 project in DkIT is performed by both the B.Sc Applied Bioscience and B.Sc Pharmaceutical Science.  Each student will be assigned to an academic mentor who will meet with you and assist you in generating your literature review.
There are key aspects that you really need to address in the project – identifying the right sources, referencing your sources correctly, spelling & grammar in addition to your scientific writing skills in general.  We hope you will enjoy this module and that you will grasp the opportunity to improve your skills.
There are 2 primary aspects to your project (the below breakdown applies to the project commencing this term):
  1. Final Literature Review submission  (5,000 words +/- 500 words) – due week 12 of term (70%)
  2. Literature Review; Oral Presentation  (10 minutes) – takes place during week 13 of term (30%)
The topic for your project will be decided upon with your academic mentor.  However, if you have an area of science you would like to work on, feel free to make suggestions.
During the weekly tutorials, I will be providing you with more information on the project.  We will also be having tutorials in the library which have proven very beneficial to previous students.  I look forward to working with you during the term.  Best of luck to all of you.
